Next ale

Post by Bunglebrewsbeer » Wed Jun 15, 2016 7:49 pm

Thinking of making a light summer ale. It's not that exciting really but what do folk reckon?

Having looked at the Seymour Citra gold recipe I'm tempted to lob a bit of orange peel in maybe??

Looks good. I'd get shot of the Goldings. I'm not sure what flavour they'd impart after 20min, esp as it'll probably be eclipsed by the Citra.
I'd also dry hop with some Citra. I find dry hopping really adds something than I can't get in the kettle.

Yeah I know. Do like Citra. Just don't want it to be massively hoppy for a change. Was going to do this then two further hop monsters.

So I brewed this today.

Using up some hops I had in the freezer so lobbed bits of all sorts in towards the end.

Boil coming on nicely.

Used chiller for first time today. Seemed to go ok. Didn't account for loss to it though so ended up a bit shorter than expected. Live'n'learn as they say.

Great for recirculating though when late hops added.

Into the FV

Not used this yeast before. So see what happens.

Into the fridge. OG 1048 was predicted 1050 so not too bad. Tasted good and smelt rather good too.

The only time I've used M-44 the beer came out good, but the lag was long, a lot longer than when using S-05.
I'm just here for the beer.

Just thought I'd try it. I'm usually 05 with most of my ales along these lines. And will probably do so unless this happens to be amazing. We shall see. How long yours take to get going?

Looks like a successful brewday. I can't see how that beer will be anything other than delicious. I think I have that same stool. IKEA from the mid-late 80s?

Not to sure. It was there when I moved in with the Mrs. But it more than likely is. Yeah was tasting good going into FV so all being well will taste the same when it comes out.
