Unfortunately it was the 'work' phone which unlike other phones DOES have a constitutional right to be answered

How very dare you! Off to 'work' in Brittany end of next week. 3 Days there, one bit of 'work' It's a good way to make a living, traveling around the world with your mates.

Bravely Bold Sir Robin, rode forth from Camelot,
He was not afraid to die, oh brave Sir Robin...
He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways,
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Robin...

He was not in the least bit scared to be mashed into a pulp,
Or to have his eyes gouged out and his elbows broken,
To have his kneecaps split and his body burned away
And his limbs all hacked and mangled, brave Sir Robin!

His head smashed in and his heart cut out
And his liver removed and his bowels unplugged
And his nostrils raped and his bottom burned off
And his penis....

And now for something completely different...spent a couple of hours this evening wiring up a second ATC800 to control my newly aquired for free at absolutely no cost 6' tall larder fridge. I can stand in it if the weather gets too hot. The fridge set to minimum was sitting at 10c - with the lager blooping away quite merrily in it. With the controller now running the show, it will sit at 12c. There's so much space. It'll take 2 Wine fermenters + associated airlocks or blow off tube contraptions or three lidded 25L buckets, plus room for bottles.

You should get one, Phil. ;)

Yeah, I could really do with a 6 foot fridge for my conical. Otherwise I won't use it until winter.

I have a chest freezer with an ATC800 which takes 2 normal fermenters but they're not shiny

Insane busy-ness with 'work' ;) has kept me away from the brew, and it's now been sitting in the primary fermenter, on the primary sediment, and primary trub, for a month, in the fridge at 5c. Still, it seems to be ok. Tastes fine, with a slight sulphury note - normal for lager. It had a 3 day diacetyl rest at 16c about two weeks ago, before being cooled to 5c. Can't detect any there.

Anyway, it's at 1012, giving about 5.4% ABV so it got bottled today into 3 quarts and 2 pints, and the bulk went into a cornie. It was still fairly hazy and was primed at the rate of 1/2 tsp per pint with white sugar as a syrup.

Back in the fridge at 5c - look at it again in a month. Patience of Job required.

Consoling myself by drinking the Porter made in February. 5 months old, and drinking nicely :)

Many moons later and it's coming along fine. A bit of sulphur still present in the bottled version but gone now from the cornie, and big Saaz aroma has come to the fore, with hop and malt together on the palate and a hoppy finish with a dose of bitterness. Quite Czech :) Decent head retention with a bit of lacework. Another month should do it.

The hallowed Feck test....
