I was looking at BrewDog's free recipes, in particular, #54 Bramling Cross Single Hopped Ale. The recipe goes something like this:
25L Boil / 20L Volume
Pale Malt - 6.38kg
Crystal Malt 150 - 0.13kg
Caramalt - 0.25kg
60g Bramling Cross at start of boil
50g Bramiling Cross for flavour, so assume for about 10 minutes
From this you can expect to achieve an ABV of about 7.5% with (according to BrewDog) an IBU of 75 assuming a 60 minute boil.
Typically speaking, Bramling Cross have AA of 6.5, therefore, I am a little stumped at how they achieve 75 IBU's - 50 or so may be more accurate. All this is academic, as I am tempted to brew a Bramling X SHA be it at IBU of 75 or 50.
Has anyone had any experience of this or similar BX recipes?
Cheers... Fingar
