GrainFather - Small Batch kit

Morning All.

Has anybody tried the small batch tube kit? How did it work out for you?

If I keep brewing at my current rate I'll have a glut of beer so I'm interested in the small batch kit so I can keep brewing and try more styles.

Only had mine delivered yesterday so not had a chance to use it yet.
Got it for the same reasons, so I can try more styles and recipes without drinking myself to an early grave

Yes, I got it 5p cheaper than that plus a further 5% off.

You could make one in copper but if you count time as well as materials £20 starts to look a lot better and I'll buy The thing that impresses me about the GM is the engineering/construction I can not even get near that standard so if I buy it will be "right".

I've got the small batch kit. I use it way more than the full sized kit. My usual batch size is 10 litres and it works well for this. I think that it wouldn't go much below that size unless you were making a strong beer with a lot of grain.

I bought mine with the Grainfather and for pretty much the same reasons that you're thinking. I wanted a selection of beer around the house rather than a large amount of one sort and it does exactly that.

What size grain bill are you using for your 10l batch

I used the large tube yesterday on a 3kg grain bill and the pipe would not go down far enough
I have the micro pipe which I may try

Anything less than 4kg grain will require the small pipe (or more water). I'm using mine a lot lately on 27L brews at low(er) gravity.

A typical 10litre batch will have 1.8kg of grain for something around 4.5% abv. I suspect that this is around the lower end of the Grainfather's capacity even with the small pipework
