Pressure barrel o-ring

Post by adamzworld » Tue Nov 20, 2018 4:44 pm

I need to invest in some new o-rings for my pressure barrels. I've had a look online and they seem to be around £4 each so I wondered whether anyone had used any other alternative o-rings? Obviously it would need to be food / drink safe, but I wondered if anyone had used an o-ring that wasn't originally intended for use on pressure barrel and had managed to achieve a good seal?

Cheers

£1.08 here: https://www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk/ac ... hurst.html

I realise there's a postage cost too, but they also have the washers for taps and all the bits for S30 valves. You might even want to buy a spare.
Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast, Seaweed, Blood, Sweat, The swim bladder of a sturgeon, My enemies tears, Scenes of mild peril, An otter's handbag and Riboflavin.

Do you mean the old style blue O ring or the later Chinese flat white rubber washer ? There is a world of difference between the two.

It's the newer type flat white rubber washer. It's approximately 55mm diamataer and around 4mm thick.
