Cheap One Pot Klarstein
Re: Cheap One Pot Klarstein
What size thread is on the outlet tap? Would it take a camloc like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263644932126 , the Type A 1/2”.

It looks like a barb rather than thread, so you could attach a camlock via a short length of silicone tube.Tarmac wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2019 9:50 amWhat size thread is on the outlet tape? Would it take a camloc like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263644932126 , the Type A 1/2”.

Can't really help there except to say that if it's a common type of ball valve it's likely to be 0.5" BSP. Normski should be able to tell.
Best wishes

Yes the barb is removable.
There is a tread, I cant say if any of thoses ebay camlocks would fit or not.
But I suspect they would.

Well it arrived. It looks good piece of kit but annoyingly has a dent on the side around the handle area. Don’t think it should too negatively affect the performance but might see about getting a bit of cash off. Bit undecided.

Bugger.
That might pop out, if your gentle with it.

Just one of those things, these thing happen. It is good quality otherwise and they got back to me quickly. I’ve got the option of returning it for refund/replacement or accepting twenty quid off. Think I’ll return it as the dent will just annoy me otherwise. Probably make little difference to how it functions. It would be hard to get rid of the dent I think.

Shame to hear it got a knock in transit.
Re: Cheap One Pot Klarstein
Just an update on the Klarstein. I have just done my second brew on it, and again I say its fine.
I did a 17L brew 1049. I used a hop spider and pellets. I did the boil outside.
Although its probably able to brew up to about 24L, I got this to brew smaller batches around 15-17L, With around 18L in it its still light enough for me to carry it outside my kitchen door and not worry about steam etc.
I did wrap a camping mat around it but still only needed the 1500w element on. The 3k was a bit ferocious with just 18L.
But using the 3k it heats up from cold in no time.
It’s a real simple system, Set to strike temp, mash in, stir, recycle a few jugs of wort, Sparge a bit, Then boil.
No pumps or bazooka filters to get blocked. Just let it settle for 30mins and run off to an FV.
Im hitting all of my targets and the wort is nice and clear.
If you use hop pellets this is a decent bit of kit that I can recommend.

Both arrived nice n shiny. Unfortunately one dented so it’s going back. The mash kettle is unscathed and a nice bit of kit for £127.
Will give it a go at the weekend

Another one dented. They are going to have to sort there packing out, to protect them from the courier chucking them about.

It was packed in a box, within a box. Unfortunately any impact on the handle which is almost against the box wall results in a trashed boiler.
Virtually in the same area as Bitter Dave’s was damaged. Made in China, right.
Anyway it will be going back and probably a couple of weeks before a replacement arrives.
The old faithful 33ltr boiler lives on for another brew.
