I'm going to do 100% Satisfaction from M Ollosson's Real Ales for the home brewer. I've done it before and liked the results and another reason for brewing it is that I've run out of light pale ales.
So, it's going to be my second batch sparge and the original recipe efficiency has been dropped from 75% to 70%.
100% Satisfaction
Target OG 1040
Target FG 1009
IBU 24
Brew length 46 ltr
In the tun
9.64kg Maris Otter
Mash liquor 24 ltr
Strike temp 77 deg c
Mashed at 65 deg c for 90 minutes
Raise mash temp to 77 deg c and add 17.6ltr of liquor at 77 deg c to mash, recirc t'ill clear then run off.
Batch sparge 2, add 31.2 ltr of liquor at 80 deg c to the mash, stir and recirc ti'll clear then run off.
Pump 64.2ltr to copper/hlt and boil for 90 mins.
Copper hops 97g EKG (4.2%AA) 90 minutes, assuming 27% utilization and DaaB's hop calculator.
Aroma hops 60g EKG last 15 minutes (original recipe is 30g but I like hoppy beers)
2 x whirlfloc last 10 minutes
Yeast, S04 and T58. I'll split the 46 ltrs of wort into 2 and ferment with seperate yeasts for taste comparison purposes
