Anyone use a FOB detector in their home set up?

I few years ago I bought a job lot of home brew kit off Ebay.

Lots of kegs, beer line, cornys, taps and fittings.

There were a few items I didn't even know what they were!

Finally got round to sorting a few bits of kits and found out that this thing is called a fob detector.

Would this be useful for a single keg system to reduce frothing? Or am misunderstanding what it does?

As far as I know it doesn’t reduce foam, it just closes the flow off when the keg runs out so your tap doesn’t spurt foam everywhere.

I don’t think it’s particularly useful in a home context.

Pubs need these particularly when the keg is a good distance from the tap at the bar. It sits just above the keg so that when the keg is empty the fob quickly shuts the line to the bar tap thus making a change to a fresh keg easy and you don't end up with an empty beer line.
