Carbonation drops
Carbonation drops
These strike me as a waste of time and money.
What do people think to using these?

Re: Carbonation drops
I've never used them as they are a 'one size fits all' approach. I guess they are easy to use if that's the level of carbonation required, but if you brew a range of beer from lager to stout, they're pretty useless (unless there are different drops available for different beer styles these days? It's not something I've looked into!)

I am pleased it's not just me. I use a zevro and caster sugar.. Perfect
Re: Carbonation drops
A complete rip-off, I should say. I started using sugar cubes (round, 3g each), but, like Mark A, found that restrictive. It's easy to calibrate a teaspoon with a sensitive scale and then just shovel it in from the bag.
I'm cheap. Just give me beer.
Re: Carbonation drops
Yup the end of a syringe and coat hanger handle can be calibrated really well (like gunpowder measures).
I have just seen the price of a Zevro .. ffs mine was a tenner. But they do come with measured inserts.

I'd never heard of a Zevro before this thread. What a sheltered life I must have led.

Re: Carbonation drops
Me neither, until I googled it! I usually batch prime, on the occasion that I do add sugar to each bottle I use a set of stainless steel measuring spoons which range from 1/8 teaspoon to half a tablespoon. I'm sure some will say it's not an accurate way to prime, but can anyone really tell the difference between a few grains of sugar in the end product?

Ha! Great googling zevro!

Price a bit steep.
This thread could run like the `Brewtools Fanboy Thread`!
What zevro do we all need?
Can`t wait to get my order in. MrsAles will be pleased!
