Re: Pilsner up next
Looks good. I prefer the Bestmalz Pilsner malt for my Pilsners.
I also personally like to throw in a sizeable amount of noble hops in the last 5 minutes. Last one I did split 100g of leaf Hallertauer Mittelfruh between 15 minutes and 1 minute left in the boil. Tasted/smelt fantastic, but was marked down in competitions for being a bit too up front hoppy.

Ingredients: Water, Barley, Hops, Yeast, Seaweed, Blood, Sweat, The swim bladder of a sturgeon, My enemies tears, Scenes of mild peril, An otter's handbag and Riboflavin.

So what’s the Bestmalz character that you like so much in your pilsners?Jocky wrote:Looks good. I prefer the Bestmalz Pilsner malt for my Pilsners.

I know Weyermann do about 8 different ones but have only tried 3 of them and think I prefer Dingemanns, although that is mostly brewing Helles a while ago.

Difficult to say as I’ve not brewed the same beer side by side using the two. Both were good, but Bestmalz was just a bit sweeter and maltier, but without being really bready.f00b4r wrote: ↑Mon Feb 07, 2022 7:05 pmSo what’s the Bestmalz character that you like so much in your pilsners?Jocky wrote:Looks good. It is Bestmaltz. And the amount of hops scheduled (3 gallon batch) gets me where I want.Jocky wrote: ↑Mon Feb 07, 2022 5:46 pmLooks good. I prefer the Bestmalz Pilsner malt for my Pilsners.

I'm really liking the hersbrucker. This is my first time using it in a pilsner.
