What do you want from your yeast? A dry beer or residual sweetness? What kind of beer are you making?

People have gotten very good result with dry yeast, if you have more experience you could move on to liquid yeast and there are large range of English/ Scottish and Irish ones available

You could do a lot worse than using S-04 or Nottingham. S-04 is good as a general purpose ale yeast but if you want a drier beer go with the Nottingham.

Both are dry yeasts and neither need to be re-hydrated for superb results.
