fist couple of pints of turbo last night

Post by e-brewer » Tue Aug 28, 2007 4:15 pm

Hi All Well i took the plunge 4.5l apple juice 500g tate and lyle and three weeks later fully fermented out and cleared...

time to try ..

quite like flat scrumpy style so no bottling etc etc

well its definately strong

and by G%D Its F<VK&*g DRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY my cheeks are still stuck to each other ..

tried to put a sweetener in a glass didnt like the effect..

left it in a pint tumbler for an hour and hey presto seemed more drinkable..

maybe i should have stopped it during the last week of fermentation with some aj sweetness left.

I dont add sugar any more, to the must and can still retain an apple aroma in the finished cider

Hi e-brewer

Had the same problem, mine wasn't just dry it was arid!

Now I add some unfermented apple juice out of the fridge -transforms it!

Its strong enough to dilute a bit and the apple juice sweetens it up no end and adds some apple flavour 8)

Cheers

shame the third lot just about finished is tesco stuff.

so i take it all back the tc is good...next up will be sufficient to fill the free budget barrel i was given.

Just use 3l of AJ,1l of pineapple juice and 340g of honey, bottle after 2 weeks or after a gravity reading of about 1.000 and prime with 2.5ml(medicine spoon...kids you know  ) of granulated sugar, leave somewhere at room temp for a week and then move somewhere cooler and that will give you good carbonation whilst leaving some sweetness from the pineapple and honey.
I scaled it up by 4(but forced carbed with a s30 canister) and it has been sat in a keg for months, its now really clear, tastes good(just like a scrumpy 8) ) and is nearly all gone

The bottled stuff is just as good if not a little less fizzy!!
