Similar to a mag stirrer, but significantly cheaper, and up to 1L AFAIK
Cole Parmer Have them as do Scientific Lab Supplies, and 84 Quid is cheap when you consider that a lab grade mag stirrer is 450+ Quid

Has anyone tried this guys design before?
I've seen a stirrer built to that design and it works well, the brewer reported getting from 'single' cell to 1 millon cells/ml (Lager pitching rates) in just under a week.

As I said it came from a lab that was throwing it out, I'd been on the look out for one for a good few years. Even though EBay have them the price is rediculous. I was planning on either a squid stirrer, or building my own using the fan in a box approach, but one of my 'contacts' came through with that one for me.

I cant see it being too expencive to make one from a fan. I might look into it.

Fan, magnets, stir bar (anyone know a source?), Few nuts and bolts, variable voltage supply?

Cheers

Cheers for the links! :D

So many types, which do you go for? One to suit the container or do they do different things?

It will depend on the size of the vessel, but a 3 liter container would most like need the 2 inch one, second more links

I've got one of the wee squids it wasn't purloined i actually won it in one of the raffles that the reps run at conferences :D.
Most people would have brought it into the lab, but mine went straight home with me.

A 2L flask sits on it quite comfortably, have to say im very happy with it especially because it cost nothing :D
