milestone kits

clicked on one of the g**gle ads for a homebrew shop in grimsby and noticed they had a kit by milestone brewerys never heard of them just wondered if any else has, but they do say they are new

no ive never heard of them ,but i have seen them on that site and they look like expensive kits

I spotted them on Leyland Homebrew yesterday, they look intersting! There are also the new Spinghead kits on there... both are in the Ã‚Â£16ish region for (I think) 3kg kits so the pricing sems pretty reasonable compared to the competition.

Depending on when I get the AG set up I may try one of each soon... but the next order I put in may be for the rest of the AG kit as I have split the cost (well - I needed to make up the free postage for some yeast vit, so posh taps for my kegs and a wort cooler were added!) - so that just leaves the H&G kit to buy along with some ingredients!

I'm intrigued who makes them?..Is it another Muntons kit under another name or the other folk (who's name I forget) that make the John Bull range?

Anyway whatever good to see some more premium type kits being launched as IMHO thats where the industry needs to concentrate its efforts...

These Kits are made by British Diamalt from Newark, makers of John Bull and Sherwood kits, and the owners of the Gervin yeasts brand.
Theres not much info on their site at the moment, but it looks like they have another premium kit due to come out too:

All good in my opinion, it means some money has been spent on R&D and they think there is a market for new products

And I think you can be sure if the kit is in date the yeast will be good

They are made by Vina.

I thought Vina was just the distribution arm of Diamalt?

Lets hope they have a reason for launching a new range as opposed to more of the same in a different box..I hope they are a step change towards a kit tasting like full mash.... (by the way Diamalt yes thats them..they make a load of food grade stuff)

Those Springhead kits look like they could be good

I believe there 3.2 kg and use 100% Maris Otter LME, good price too.

Pity I'm not placing an order for a while

Who's going to do the first ?...............

Just received Milestone lions pride kit, and is supplied with Gervin ale yeast looks like a 11g packet and at the bottom of the instructions is

"More imformation, tips and advice is available on the web at Jims's Homebrew Forum http:/ /jimsbeerkit.co.uk/forum where there is a thriving community of homebrewers who enjoy sharing advice and infomation"

Its seems that at least 2 kit manufactures are keeping an eye on what goes on here.

So Jim Andy DaaB and Reg when do you release your JBK signature kits, with a signing tour of HBS's

Without being funny the industry in my opinion is quite appaling at promoting itself

Witness the endless discussions on here on whether water should be dechlorinated and the stuff on duff yeast supplied with some kits

I've just noticed this thread, Milestone Brewery are a few miles down the road from me at Cromwell. They are quite near to Newark, which I suppose explains the Diamalt connection, I assume they are making the kits for them, or making them under license.

If the kits turn out anything like the real thing from the brewery, they should be pretty good.

I saw these in a brew shop I went to in Bradford the other day. I think i've had the Milestone Brewery Crusader in the pub before but cant remember what it was like. The shop keeper was raving about the stout kit they offer, I think it was black pearl of something. Said it was one of the best kit stouts he'd tried.

Bottled Black Pearl is certainly very nice from the brewery!
