My new 10 gallon boiler




First addition of hops


Found out that hop and grape immersion chiller dose not really fit the 10 gallon boiler and it sprung a leak trying to get it to fit. Hope full the brew should be ok. I might looks in getting one from more beer

What do you think of the H&G 10 gallon boiler?
I might be tempted

I reckon the upgrade to Morebeer IC would make a big difference as the H&G IC is not really upto the job on a 5 gallon batch.

Its also an excuse to buy more bits from Morebeer, you cant just buy an IC it needs company in the box.

I like it a lot, it more sturdier that the 5 gallon boiler and loads of room of a good rolling boil

Had the same problem with the H&G IC, i bent the inlet and outlet pipes so they point every so slightly up, now i drop the whole thing into the bottom of the boiler (make sure not to rest it on an element), works about 400 % better now that all of it is actually in the wort .

It seems my problem was that the hose had to rest on the to of the 10 gallons boiler this cause a back pressure and the hose came off the chiller

The old 5 gallon one I could hang the chiller on the inside and the hose connected directly to the IC with out resting on the top of the boiler.

Might be worth some jubilee clips on the IC

I brewed on Friday and as I started the IC water running the output hose slid of and squirted boiling water at me.
Luckily I jumped out of the way in time and pointed the stream out of the door

I had some on the water out section, they worked to a point. But I could not open the tap fully as it would leak

From my old diving days, where leaks could be a problem

When I used to cable tie up hoses, where the tie meets up (the bit you tighten) it does seem to nip up a bit and allow a leak.
So I used to add another one with the tie on the opposite side to stop the leak caused by the last one.

The jubilee clip might do the same

if that makes any sense

Cable ties are what holds the world together and of course Duck (Duct) Tape.

Saved me many a dive in the past (no sniggering at the back)

Thanks for that subsub
