Well that's it all finished now, dont think i quite got my sums right though. Ended up with about 15 litres after the boil, topped up with another litre or so and my sg was 1040-1042 ish so left it at that.

took some photos will upload to the site when i figure it out.

Invairably on your first few brews you will not hit your figures on the nail, its nothing to worry about, as you gain experience and understand the efficiency of your system you will adjust the recipes to meet your targets.

And welcome to the dark side 8)

Cheers guys, was not as bad as i thought. Only down side was i could not find my whirlfloc tabs that i had bought, dont know if that matters. The beer in the sample jar was quite cloudy, is that normal and will it clear?

As for my 2nd ag think it might have to wait until after my hols, quite fancy the hobgoblin recipe or a nice tasty stout next time.

Just checked gravity and it read 1002, cant believe its come down so quick, is that normal? The yeast i used was Nottingham.

Its also very cloudy, again is that normal?

1.002 sounds very low, are you sure your hydrometer is correct, hoe does it taste?

Ok just checked again with a different hydrometer and it was reading around the 1010 mark. also had a taster and it tasted fine, in fact much better than any kit ive ever done :lol:

When i saw you write the word infection i thought s^"t all the hard work gone to waste :cry:

Well, have tried a few pints of this and to my mind the taste is far superior to anything i ever brewed before. So for anyone thinking about going all grain, trust me you will be amazed at the difference in quality.

I know its still only a young beer but it is very cloudy and i think its probably down to my mistakes on the day ie: i tilted the boiler to try and get all the liquid into fv :roll: so i probably got all the rubbish that should have stayed with the hops.

But its all a learning curve, so hopefully next one will be even better. :lol:
