Just had another look, and its fizzing away like yesterdays lemonade.....theres been hardly any frothing at all ! Which is worrying....

Oh well.....it'll be useful for one the last BBQ's of the summer when 30 people come round....I can give it to them when they're half cut...

Well well.............the day is approaching...it looks like it stopped fizzing LONG ago anyway, but Im tempted to give it a " rousting " to see what happens.....

Didn't put that much in.....a quick peek earlier has revealed no carbonation whatsoever....

Hang on, i've just looked at my keg again, and closer inspection has revealed a split seal on the lid ( although how I missed it the first time is anyones guess )

I've changed the seal, but have I missed the boat for carbonation now ?

With the taste of " oh my good lord " in my mouth...

I can report that it actually isn't half bad !

AND....since the replacement of the seal it IS pressurising ! :D

wait and see chaps..

Of course, in the meantime, if anyone fancies sending me another beer pack as my reward for undertaking such a dangerous experiment, then please PM me for my postal address. ;)

My old man has one of these in the shed. I was thinking of brewing it up this weekend using 500g of dark malt then slowly adding 1kg of sugar during fermentation and chucking in 25g of hops  . I'll keep you all informed.

I was thinking that. What yeast would be good for a high alcohol yield? I'm a bit of a noob really. Been using kits for a year or so but now im starting to adapt them a bit.

I'll give that a whirl then. Cheers.

How much did you pay for it ?
I have been using Youngs Definitive bitter kits from Wilkinsons @ £4.99 for a standard 40 pint kit, and adding 2.5 kgs of sugar instead of the recommended 1kg. Turned out at 5.8 % abv.
Incidently I see Wilco's also have the Geordie kits on offer in Lincoln At
£ 4.99.......Mike W
