just a little questioni am making some cider i have pulped and pressed some pears and put the juice into an air tight container to ferment is this the correct method for fermenting or should it not be air tight or should i take the lid off alltogether any advice would be welcome thanks,

Airtight is bad as fermentation produces a lot of gas. It needs some way of escaping otherwise it might do it all of a sudden with unpredictable results. :shock:

thanks steve so i put a loose lid on it then is that what you saying? should i make it air tight at any time during fermenting, oh and another thing ive not added any yeast just a touch of sugar i need a bit of help on this one i am also reading posts on the forum but not found anyone in my situation yet
