I see theres a copy of Brew Classic European Beers at Home by Wheeler on ebay, I would grab that to start with. Theres enough instructions to start all grain brewing and some good recipes too.
For equipment, I started off with a H&G 10 gallon brewery: http://www.hopandgrape.co.uk/catalog/de ... HA20225648
Should have everything you need apart from a chiller, I would pick up an immersion chiller on top of that.

My first book was "Brew Beers Like Those You Buy" Dave Line, God bless him!!!
My two bucket mash tun and the Richie products boiler serves me well.
Best place to check out brewing books is at a library!!!
