Question: The dried yeast inside has "Premium Yeast" on the front. I've read the woodfordes yeast horror stories. Would i be better using this yeast or a packet of youngs dried yeast?
done that kit, it was lovely and used supplied yeast.
"Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza." ~ Dave Barry
I did this as my first kit. Its great, BUUUUUUUTTTTTTT as Daab says use a different yeast ,as the included yeast seems to be moody and has a potential of sticking. So I would say save yourself the agro and use your youngs yeast.
in a post from a few days ago: viewtopic.php?t=2491 Vossy1 was happy to use the kit yeast from a Woodfordes kit. Are there some of their range which you should use an alternate yeast, or is everyone playing safe?
Do we know whether the yeast is the common factor for the stuck kits yet?
i had trouble with the supplied yeast on this very kit recently and agree with DaaB, it's worth it to buy a yeast you know will work. It's a good idea the next time you buy your kits get a few packs of yeast and keep them around in case you need them. Hope your wherry turns out as good as mine did, it died a quick death
Drinking wherry right now.
Brewed 24/11 supplied yeast
barrelled 3/12
tasted 16/12 disapointing
retasted 24/12 okay
quoffed in large volume 4/01 awesome cannot believe how nice it is
All I can say is leave it to mature get more barrels
Bah! I bought the wherry so i could drink it while the fixby was maturing. Oh well
Gonna start it tomorrow. Going to use my youngs yeast instead of the packaged. Also am going to order some decent yeast, where is a good place for yeast?
