The start point. Just the indicator, with no KH
reagent added:
Exactly 1 ml of reagent. The air in the body of the syringe doesn't
matter; this is the air that was in the tip when you started drawing the
liquid up and will stay in there, even if the syringe is emptied:
Just before the end point. On adding a drop and shaking, the liquid
flashes pink before settling back to this grey colour:
This is the end point. The first hints of pink are showing, but it is
still mainly grey. Make a note of the reading on the syringe and add
another drop to make sure it turns properly pink:
This is one or two drops past the end point:
Reading the syringe - note the amount left - in this case 0.14 ml:
Find the appropriate line in the conversion chart. The alkalinity is
given in meq/L, and can be converted to CaCO3 by multiplying this number by 50:
