The first brew was going to be a Phils Hefe due to it's quick drinkability, but I've changed my mind...that, and the fact that it should spurn me to do a Hefe in double quick time after this brew



So, the first brew...Back Int Saddle aka Market Best Bitter from M Ollossons book.
The recipe has been scaled down from 75% efficiency to 70% efficiency regards malt and a hop utilization figure of 25% has been used...so
Original gravity 1040
Final gravity 1009 (est)
Alc 4%
IBU 38
Final volume 60 ltrs
Mash temp 65 deg c
Mash time 90 min
Boil time 90 min (reduced from original 2 hrs)
In the tun
Marris Otter 11.99kg
Crystal 120 0.64kg
15g Gypsum
9g CaCl2
2g MgSo4
Ph 5.2 addition to be inserted if required...will check with Ph test strips.
Mash at 65 deg c for 90 min
Haven't decided whether to fly or batch sparge yet

In the copper (90 minute boil)
15g Gypsum
9g CaCl2
1g MgSo4
Styrian Golding 3% 304g 90 minutes
Whirlfloc 1 tablet last 15 minutes of boil
Styrian Golding 100g at 80 deg c for 15 min (upped 33% roughly from original recipe)
Yeast SO4 x 3 11g packs
