Around 15% as it was a 90 minute boil. The reason it was so vigorous in the photo was that both elements were still switched on. I switched one of the elements off straight after the photo was taken.

Thats ok. You do the same as me. 2 to get it going then 1 to keep it going. I did another brew today. Old speckled hen and I think I lost about 1 Gallon out of the 5.5 gallons I collected. Topped it back up to just over the 5.5 gallon mark in the fermenter. I worked out the mash efficiency for the 1st time today and am well chuffed. 86% :D

I am going to have my first try of it this weekend. I will post a pic of it & give it a review after a thorough tasting session!

Well, here it is, it has had a thorough testing over the bank holiday weekend! :out

I am very happy with the way that this has turned out, it would make an ideal summer refresher.

I would give it a little tweak next time I brew this, it is probably slightly too bitter for a pale ale. I assumed an ebu of 34 using Graham Wheeler's 20% calculation, I will knock it down to 32 ebu next time. I would also use goldings for the late/soak hops next time. Here is the link to the recipe. I achieved an og of 1044 with this based on 72% effiency.

I am around 95% happy with this beer, I feel after I have tweaked it as suggested it will be time to carve the recipe in stone & add it to my portfolio! 8)

Great looking pint! My wife finds it amusing watching me take photos of beer and beer making.
