What is the best kit? I know this is quite a wide question but I'm just wondering what kit people use?

My take on things is that people seem to be most pleased with any of the one can kits made with spraymalt (not sugar) for the extra fermentables.
Less problems with sticking ferments and less expensive than the 'premium' two can kits.
Im sure some of the more experienced kit brewers will be able to tell you of specific kits that make great beer though.

Anything Coopers, really. Just knock it up as it says on the tin.

If you don't want to go the Coopers route you could always get a cheap can of whatever you like, grab an ounce of hops and throw them in to add extra flavour/aroma.

I can second the Cooper's comment.

Isn't the Wherry supposed to be very good but prone to sticking?

My favorite so far is probably, Fixby Gold by Brupak.

Excellent brew.......though I have made Coopers Mexican twice, second time it was even nicer.

Oh and Muntons IPA is good too! ;)

Currently drinking Woodfordes Great Eastern and Fixby Gold. I prefer the Great Eastern, one of the best tasting kits I've done. Woodfordes Admirals Reserve was also excellent. Milestone IPA was another good one. All pretty light in colour and easy to drink. The Woodfordes all took a fair bit of work to get the gravity down though.

Just tried my 1st pint of Fixbys Gold and it is superb. Not the cheapest kit but worth every penny.

Recently experimented a bit and made up a Wilkos cheap Tom Caxton Real Ale, mixed with 1KG x BKE and also added 500g medium spraymalt. Great results - a excellent full bodied pint that is one of the best to date.

Cheers!

I agree..... my fave and current yardstick is Munstons Gold IPA
I made the weaker version..... will definitely do again and may even try the Officers mix.....

However, I'm only on my 4th brew so my opinion is hardly qualified.

I didn't like Coopers Master IPA much. Seemed to be too sweet but could have been a problem with brewing..........didn't stop me drinking the whole barrel! ;)

I wouldn't worry about that Prozac. we all have different tastes and can only call upon the experience that we have, but all that experience is unique.

Personally, after 12 kits I can say that the best results came from the Coopers IPA. followed closely by a chreap can of Harvest Bitter a mate gave me, with 2Kg of dark spraymaly added. Its some out a beauty. If I wasn't making the step up to AG i would definately follows stevezx7r [top bike btw  ]'s advice and play around with hops and stuff. I made a BRewers choice kit that didn't go very low in FG, and hence, I believe, has turned out under hopped nd over sweet. If met with the same experience again I would dry hop i think.

I'll tell you what the best beer kit is, if you tell me what the best cheese is.

Tickler's Cheddar (Tesco - strong enough to make your eyes water) or
Saint Agur (blue cheesey, spready, foul breath mouthfulls of cheese).
