Chocolate Treacle Stout - 03/09/08
How time flies. It seemed it was only the other week this recipe came around in the newsletter and I thought I'd give it ago. That was Autumn 2007...
About time I cracked on with it then. I'm gonna get this on tomorrow (Wednesday). It wont be an early start, going to stay chilled and relax. I'll upload pics as the day progresses;
5.5kg Pale Malt
510g Roasted Barley
255g Wheat Malt
170g Chocolate Malt
60 min mash @ 68deg
60 min boil;
100g Northdown (6%) 60 min
300g Treacle 20 min
23L @ 1056 is the target.

I brewed this last Sept and found one last bottle in a forgotten crate 2 weeks ago, still in perfect condition and tasted superb.
SWMBO has a wicked recipe for chocolate beer cake that uses half pint of stout. You guessed it - half for the cake and half for me
If anyone's interested i'll post the cake recipe, it's the best choc cake i've every tasted.
Hope your brew goes ok.
