Playing with new toys

First chance to do a brew with the gear i got from e-bay.
Here is the recipe

3.2 kg. John Bull Light
45 g. Fuggle (Whole, 6.5 %AA) boiled 60 min.
50 g. Brambling Cross (Whole, 6.4 %AA) boiled 15 min.
40 g. Brambling Cross (Whole, 6.4 %AA) boiled 1 min.
5 g. Brambling Cross (Whole, 6.4 %AA) used as dry hop.
Yeast :Gervin ale yeast.

I dont think that the boiler has enough power really(not sure if it is possible to fit another element :? ).

Time to put the wort chiller in now!

Just finished dinner and the kids are in bed so a here are a few pics!
This was taken just after the first hops went in at 4 pm
Image
The boil didnt seem very active to me but ticked along ok.
Second addition of hops went in at 4.40 and the wort chiller went in five minutes later
Image
Poured the cooled wort into the fermenting bucket to get some air into it,whilst this was taking place i decided i had earned this 8)

This was the wort just after pitching the yeast,i attempted to make a quick starter with some rehydrated gervin ale yeast added to 250ml of wort that had been drawn of after 15 minutes and cooled(no pics..sorry),there was a small amount of foaming on top of the starter when i pitched it so i hope its ok :?
Next picture is just after i pitched and stirred in the yeast
Image

Temp of wort is now 24c and i'm off to the telly with a few of these

Cheers for your time people i will let you know how it goes

Funny that OB,

There's this bloke on e-bay selling 16 empty Grolsch bottles that would be ideal for the home brewer

You should laugh about the sweeney Vossy...to the right of the lower Grolsch crate under the covering is my 1977 MK1 Ford Granada 3L GHIA,been sat in the garage for the past 4 years due to lack of funds...my wife and i used it as a wedding car back in 1997...will try to dig out a picture for you 8)

I bought my swing tops about a year ago. 4 crates with enough bottles to fill about 3 of them. Some of the bottles have since been thrown away due to me smashing them, but I still have most.

Again, never seem to have enough time to brew beer quick enough to use the bottles. It seems that I barely have enough time to brew to fill both of my kegs.....
