Two-Can Kits

Post by robharper » Fri Jun 26, 2009 10:13 am

So this is probably a dumb question, but...

Are the two cans in a two-can kit identical? To be more specific, if I bought a Wherry kit, could I make a 2.5 gallon brew from each can? Just wondering...

Why would you want to do that? Seems like you're making work for yourself.

One can Half a Kit? I was considering using three cans in a 40 pinta.

Basically, I drink beer more slowly than I make it, so it's nice to do some smaller batches. I've just started getting into extract brews of around 10 litres, which suits me fine (and allows me to experiment more), but I like to do kits too.

As for the work... So what? This is a hobby!

OK, but you don't have to rush to drink it and you should remember that the condition of your brew will vastly improve after 6-8 weeks, so even after 6 months it will still be be fine.

Very true, Lilly. Though at the moment I'm enjoying having a few different brews available to choose from rather than one or two large batches. I'm definitely making sure that I keep a few bottles from each batch for a few months before drinking.

Fair play I've just realised I'm going to run out of bottles soon! Think I'll have to get another 80 or so!
