Fermenting temp

I've brewed a few kits and as you can see in my status they weren't impressive at all and all tasted the same and also tasted strong (even though they were at 4.5%)

I had previously took a temp reading in the cupboard and it was 23 c but I've now got a min/max thermometer and have now found out that after it being in there for a few days it says Max 29.5 Min 22.3 and was at a steady 27 when I took it out :(
Could this be the reason my beer wasn't 'impressive'? Have I over the week or so fermented it too higher temp? Thinking about it now all my kits had been very active the first 48 hrs then stopped bubbling.

If this could be the reason I'll find a new place to ferment and give the Coopers kits another fair chance :)

the ideal fermenting temp for ale is 18-22c. 27c is way too high which will produce fusel alcohols so the beer will taste more alcoholic than it really is.

Woops I thought as much. Well that's still good news as I can brew some kits when I'm not doing Extract brews (just about to start that) and they should taste a lot better :)

At those temperatures I'd expect that you had spicey, clovey and banana flavoured beer.
Not the tastiest, but you could also turn it to your advantage and make a weizen kit which will benefit from those flavours as it fits the style.
