Splitter's Bitter - 14.04.07

Post by splitter » Sat Apr 14, 2007 12:02 pm

Hello all!
After my first ag attempt last night (splitter's stout) i'm going for a hoppy, darkish bitter today.
I reduced the Pale malt from 4kg to 3.5 after getting 83% efficiency yesterday.
here's the recipe,

Splitter's Bitter (5 Gallon)

3.5kg Pale Malt MO
0.25 Crystal Malt
0.1 Chocolate Malt

28g Target (start Boil)
28g Golding (last 60)
28g Golding (last 30 min)
28g Golding (last min and steep)

Safale04
Mash - 90 min at 67 Boil - 90 min
Target OG 1.040

Here we go again!

HH, i reckon if i get two on i might be able to let one of them mature! 8)
What a day, summer's here. Need to get a 3-tier system rigged up outside.

Cheers mate!
Just noticed target hops have AA content 11.9%.
Do you think it may be over bittered with an oz of those plus an oz of golding?
May half the amount of target, or maybe lower both.

Going well so far. went for 20g Target and 20g Golding at 60mins from end.
Now on hot break, on the ginger beer at the mo but have a few pale ales in the fridge. 8)
Got some pics, hopefully they'll come out and i can work out how to put them on.

Just had to do the figures.
Had an og of 1.0420 with a potential of 1.0493, that gives me 85% efficiency this time. ABV 3.5-3.7%.
Smelling great this one, should make a good summer quaffer. 8)
