Re: American Brown Ale (critique?)
Well us yanks would likely bump the gravity a bit, maybe 1.055 or so but your recipe should be good, enjoy your beer.
Drinking:Saison (in bottles), Belgian Dubbel (in bottles), Oud Bruin (in bottles), Olde Ale (in bottles),
Abbey Triple (in bottles), Munich Helles, Best Bitter (TT Landlord clone), English IPA
Conditioning: Traditional bock bier, CAP
Fermenting: Munich Dunkel
Next up: Bitter (London Pride like), ESB
So many beers to make, so little time (and cold storage space)

Re: American Brown Ale (critique?)
I made a brown at 4.3% and it tastes lovely

I'd expect yours to be a pretty dark Brown.

Re: American Brown Ale (critique?)
It seems to be fermenting away nicely (touch wood), wort was a lovely colour. Went for increased late hops in place of dry hopping. Will update in a few weeks.

Re: American Brown Ale (critique?)
Just to update this - bottled but still needs a bit more conditioning. Decided to omit the dry hopping and just go for increased late hops (15min 15g columbus, 10min 15g cascade, 0min 20g cascade) and it's tasting good. Would probably omit the black malt next time but it's still good. Brewed an IPA with the same (but more) hops and it makes an interesting comparison.
