At last I have broken my duck !

With all your support I have bitten the bullet and gone and had my first all grain brew day!

I borrowed Garth's recipe for a Standard English Bitter
3.7kg pale Malt
250g Crystal Malt
30 g Fuggles
20g Challenger
5g Fuggles.

I was relegated out of the house as my girls have all complained of the awful smell I cause when I brew. I have one of thse pop up gazebos so it was taken out from its bag and erected next to the house.

Very nice! Did you insulate between the boiler and the wood?? Is so, what did you use?

Yes built a wood frame then drilled holes in it and squirted in expanding foam. It seems to have worked a treat.

Makes my set up look a bit shabby (not to mention my home too!).

Well done.

Look forward to hearing how it turned out. My ordinary bitter is next up which looks shocking similar to Jim's and Garth's and yours.

Very nice. Brewing outside is almost Zen-like on a nice day. Looks like your first grain brew went well. No turning back now. :D

great pictures IMBM, your 2nd one will be even more enjoyable.

I must point out though, I'm afraid I can't take the credit for the recipe, I believe it's Lord Jim's, Our Master.
