American IPA hop Combination suggestions

Post by dreadskin69 » Thu Mar 28, 2013 10:20 am

hows it going? ive been experimentin with aipa's and was wondering what hops you guys think work real well together.

i genterally do a mash with 90-92% bairds pale malt, and 10-8% bairds crystal.

so far ive been mashing at 64, however one batch we only managed to hit 62. that batch has come in far to day with quite a harsh hop hit.
wat are your prefared temperatures for and AIPA?

thanks as always

there's hundreds of threads on this, and at the end of the day it all comes down to personal tastes. maybe find a commercial example you really like above all others and try to find out what hops they use? between brewery descriptions and US brewer's attempts to clone them there's a lot of information out there.
for what it's worth, i like a heavy dose of simcoe (resin/pine), a whack of centennial (floral/fruity) and a backnote of CTZ (dank).
..aaand now i'm thirsty. this always happens... #-o
oh, 'cause i use notty which attenuates fairly well i'll tend to mash around 67C.
dazzled, doused in gin..

All of them? The most fun part is to experiment. It can't go that wrong as long as you pick those suited best for late additions.
