The problem is the haze will probably last longer16 pages of Haze discussion, glad I mentioned it

In that case my overall efficiency was 74% for the 84% extraction brew. (Having checked my notes). Without any special measures to hang onto every drop between boiler and FV I'm losing 10% - mostly to hops, as I'm not sparging them.DaaB wrote:The 70% was brewhouse or overall efficiency as I don't own a brew house, not yet anyway. I'm looking for 75% though, it must be achievable as I normally get 85%+ when spinny sparging.
Nice one Vossy, i've also been getting better results, my Styrian Stunner is crystal clear (it's been kegged for 5 weeks now) and it seems that all subsequent brews are also haze free!Vossy1 wrote:The V1 brewery is pleased to announce that it's last 2 ales are perfectly clear![]()
One has fallen bright in secondary and the other fell bright with issinglass from primary![]()
Now it's time to reflect on why![]()
I have several other ales in corny, maturing...but they aint getting touched
I have been known to try beers a bit soon without too much hazeWez wrote: Changes that I have made are:
A) Leaving them longer than 3 weeks to mature![]()
I used to use acid but now use 5.2 buffer. It's so long since I didn;t adjust my mash pH I can't remember if I had hazes when I didn'tB) Adjusting the mash PH to 5.2/5.3
I batch sparge so this isn't an issueC) Adjusting the sparge water PH to under 6
Whirlfloc is greatD) Using whirlfloc tablets in the last 10 mins of the boil
I've never rinse my hops but I use hop bags so sometimes squeze the bittering hops out jsut before the end of the boilE) I've stopped rinsing the hops after draining the boiler instead i have been adding 3 litres of treated water to the boiler when running off into the FV when it gets down to the last third
Of course it's better i was just using the commercial piss as a reference point, see it is good for somethingVossy1 wrote:Yep...but better...I made it myselfWhen you say clear are we talking commercial polished clear?
AT it's been hard work, but for you, i've drank through all those beers just to get it right. I do hope you're appreciativealexander taipan wrote:Of course it's better i was just using the commercial piss as a reference point, see it is good for somethingVossy1 wrote:Yep...but better...I made it myselfWhen you say clear are we talking commercial polished clear?![]()
