Is my Tilt dead?

Post by Cobnut » Mon Jul 01, 2024 12:54 pm

After fighting to remove the lid on my Tilt hydrometer in order to replace the battery, I noticed that the “nipple” just under the lid has broken off.

I fear that this is important - critical even - to the balance and thus calibration of the device.

I’ve emailed Baronbrewing to ask, but not hopeful that it is salvageable.

It seems to me that the plastic has become brittle over the years I’ve had this (at least 5 - could be more). So maybe this is only to be expected.

I will report back when I hear from Baronbrewing.

🙁
Fermenting: Cherry lambic
Conditioning: English IPA/Bretted English IPA, Munich Helles, straight lambic
Drinking: Munich Dunkel, Helles Bock, Orval clone, Impy stout, Porter 2, Hazelweiss 2024, historic London Porter
Planning: Kozel dark (ish),and more!

Quick update on this.

Baronbrewing replied saying that the Tilt should calibrate OK, but if not they’d help me out (not sure what they meant by this).

They were right:

So the Tilt lives to fight its’ way through several dozen more brews :-)

I nearly suggested superglue, but glad you've got it sorted.

Don't know how I manage to brew without one :D
